A German band is a must-have for any real traditional German-themed event. They usually play Polka tunes or an Oom-pah-pah sound and are a great addition.

The Polka is originally a Czech dance and genre of dance music familiar throughout Europe and the Americas. It originated in the middle of the 19th century in what`s now the Czech Republic.

Polka remains a popular folk music genre in many European countries and is performed by folk artists in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.

The Oom-pah sound is usually made by the tuba “the oom” with “the pah” played on the off-beats by higher-pitched instruments such as the clarinet, accordion or trombone.

Our team at HUT DOG catering + events works with a number of top Polka and Oompah bands in Australia.

Bands vary from 1-piece to big band with accordion, clarinet, trombone, tuba as well as violin, bass, and tuba. We also feature entertainers that will sing and animate the guests to participate in dancing etc.

We book the bands on your behalf, work out all details and also make recommendations with regards to playlists (e.g. a more traditional or more modern repertoire) depending on your guests and the type of event.
